Autoresponders: Get Your Message Out
by: Marvin Nolan Moore
Autoresponders are an effective
marketing tool. You have a product or service to sell. You place a small
classified ad asking people to email you for more information. With an autoresponder
your information is sent directly to the requestors email address. It's
quick and simple. You might be lucky enough to generate a sale with an autoresponder!
How to find an Autoresponder for Your Business
There are numerous companies
who offer autoresponder services. Most of the companies charge a fee.
However, some companies offer free service. In return for the free service,
your autoresponder would have an advertisement from the autoresponder
service located at the end of your message. Depending on the free service
from company, there is a limit as to how much information can be contained
in the autoresponse.
I recommend using Aweber Autoresponse,
located at http://www.aweber.com/?13592.
They can set up an account instantly and are very professional from a
service standpoint.
Planning and Using Autoresponders
You will need to plan what you
want to use your autoresponder(s) for. Then determine how much space your
autoresponder will actually use.
Place all the information in a document and send it to yourself
via email. Notice how large the file size is when you open up your email
program. Does the file size
compare with the service plan you have chosen?
Autoresponders could be used
as an enhancement to classified ads you may place. When you are only allotted
so much space in a classified ad, an autoresponder can help you out.
Let's say you have a whole product line of 2000 items. A classified
ad may only allow you to place a 25-35-word ad. Granted, the ads may be
viewed by millions of people, it is hard to convey all you have to offer
in so little space. Mentioning
that your catalog can be sent by email autoresponse may give you that
added advantage. Your ad
could read like this:
“1000's of office products for business use. Competitive pricing and
quality service. Receive our whole catalog via email autoresponse at catalog@officesupply.com”
You now have an ad that is less
than 25 words. The reader knows that he/she can receive your whole catalog
by autoresponse in about 15 seconds. Wow! This was just one example of
the use of an autoresponder. You know your business and what you want
to accomplish. Can an autoresponder benefit you in any way? Brainstorm
to find out.
What To Use Autoresponders For
I use autoresponders most of
my email addresses. What I have done is created a couple of lines promoting
my services. I also mention that I offer web page design and hosting.
Then I mention my monthly newsletter on Internet marketing. I provide
instructions on how to subscribe, and mention what a viewer may find on
a couple of pages at my web site. This is to bring traffic to my site.
I follow up by placing a few advertisements concerning some revenue sharing
programs I am involved in.
Since I advertise in Internet
classifieds quite frequently, I receive a huge amount of junk email. Companies
thrive on classified ads to harvest email addresses. The companies gather
up email addresses and then send out their solicitations. When I first
started placing classified ads I would receive about 25 solicitations
a day. Now, with an autoresponder, I have turned some of the junk mail
into profits! People send me solicitations, and automatically receive
my advertisement via autoresponse. Right back at you!
I have discussed some uses and
ways to attain your own autoresponder. What you decide to do is your choice.
Autoresponders are great for immediate response to requested information.
They are also a great way to get your word out.
In the immortal words of Forrest Gump:
"That's
all I've got to sa-ay about tha-at."
